Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who's achieved huge fame with the stories she tells of her young heartbreak. Swift's passion for music was evident when she was a young age. From children's plays to appearing in front of crowds, Swift made rapid progress. Swift began to compose songs when she was 11. Swift sang The Star-Spangled Banner for a Philadelphia 76ers game. Swift, who took her influences from the music of Shania Twain as well as The Dixie Chicks now known as The Chicks in the world of country music, composed the songs of her own to convey the feeling of being alienated. Swift's family moved into Tennessee from Pennsylvania when she was 13so she could spend more time pursuing country music labels in Nashville.
